Welcome to the official website of the Addis Ababa City Courts.
Justice is more than a legal principle — it is a timeless and eternal value that sustains society. It transcends place and time, guiding human dignity and strengthening public trust. A court is not only an institution of law, but also a guardian of truth, fairness, and the hopes of the people.
The Addis Ababa City Courts are founded upon this eternal value of justice. As part of Ethiopia’s judicial system, our courts ensure that the rule of law is upheld, rights are protected, and justice is delivered fairly and without delay. Through reviewing cases, resolving disputes, and safeguarding rights, we serve as a vital bridge between the law and the people.
As part of our Reform Program, Addis Ababa City Courts are making a historic transition from paper-based processes to a digital system. We have established a modern data center and networked all courts together, creating a strong technological foundation. Building on this, we are developing and applying innovations that will transform us from paper to digital operations. This shift enables faster trials, enhances transparency, strengthens accountability, and prepares us to meet the demands of the future world.
At the heart of this responsibility stand our judges. The integrity, independence, and impartiality of judges are the pillars upon which public trust is built. A judge’s character and ethical commitment are as important as their legal knowledge. When judges decide with honesty and fairness — free from fear or favor — they do not only resolve cases of today, but also lay the foundation of justice for generations to come.
Our people expect and deserve justice that is accessible, transparent, timely, and impartial. They look to the courts for protection, for fairness, and for assurance that the law applies equally to all. Meeting this expectation is both our greatest responsibility and our highest calling.
As Addis Ababa City Courts, we remain committed to delivering justice with integrity, efficiency, and accountability. Our mission is not limited to resolving disputes — it is to uphold the eternal principle of justice that gives meaning and stability to human society. Justice is not temporary. It is eternal — and it is our solemn duty to preserve and deliver it faithfully.
